Underwater treadmills produce excellent results and for several reasons:-

  • Patients exercise in warm water which improves circulation and reduces pain.

  • Depth of water can be varied so that the patient is supported regardless of size, thus reducing joint pain from impact.

  • The treadmill belt speed can be varied from almost stationery to running thus patients with extreme conditions can be safely treated under carefully controlled conditions.

  • Hydrostatic pressure has a natural beneficial effect on swollen joints.

DWS Hydrotherapy is a British company which designs and builds equipment for the hydrotherapy industry, both human and veterinary. Its products include underwater treadmills for use in pools in recovery from sports injuries or other musculo/skeletal injuries. A range of veterinary treadmills are also available where the benefits of underwater exercise can be fully exploited in stand alone units.

Veterinary treadmills are manufactured in 316 stainless steel with 15mm thick toughened glass for all round vision. Ease of use and safety are paramount in the design of DWS treadmills. Prior to installation a comprehensive site survey ensures that installations will meet current UK and EU electrical safety standards.
